About the Teacher

Welcome to 2nd grade students and parents! I am so excited to be your child's teacher for the 2017-2018 school year.  Teaching is my passion and calling in life and I truly believe that teachers and parents need to work together to make a student's learning be as successful as possible.  This is my 18th year of teaching and my 7th year of teaching 2nd grade.  I have also taught Title, 1st, 3rd, 4th, & 5th grade.  I have my Associate's degree, my Bachelor's degree in Sociology, my Master's degree in Elementary Education, & my Educational Specialist degree in Educational Administration.
I have been married to Bryan Walker for 16 years, who is a detective with the Roane County Sheriff's Department.  We have 3 sons:  Bailey, 13, who will be in 8th grade;  Riley, 11, who will be in 6th grade, and Colby, 9, who will be in 4th grade.  They play baseball, basketball, and football year 'round so we stay very busy and are on the go all year long taking them to practices and games.  My life is extremely crazy & hectic but I wouldn't have it any other way!
I am really looking forward to this new, exciting school year.  I get so much pleasure in seeing students learn and grow from a last year 1st grader at the beginning of the year to a ready-to-go-to-3rd-grader at the end of the school year!  Your child will learn & grow by leaps and bounds this school year and if we can work as a team by building a strong teacher/parent relationship, your child will have a very successful 2nd grade year full of wonderful memories.  I look forward to working with you & your child for the next year.  Please let me know if you ever have any questions or concerns!
